Current post (1986-present): Established and in charge of flow cytometry
laboratory (2 x FACScans; 4 x H-P 340 computers; Ortho Cytofluorograph 50-H
twin laser sorter with 2151 computer; FACSnet; Cytolink; IBM PC's and
mainframe access; 2 x FACSmates; etc.) working on "Applications of Flow
Cytometry" for Immunology Division of Cambridge University Pathology
Department, England.
Postgraduate training: Ph.D. thesis: "Effect of acidity on the physiology
of Arthrobacter globiformis", involving chemostat continuous culture of
an important soil bacterium, design and operation of a pH-stat fermentor.
Undergraduate training: B.Sc. (hons.) Biological Sciences: Class II(1): 1978.
Scientific experience: Research, application, development and teaching of
Flow Cytometry; Cell sorting; Establishment, supervision and general running
of a Flow Cytometry laboratory; General microbiological techniques; Microbial
continuous culture and fermentation; Biochemical analysis; Field testing of
novel reagents and systems; Computing (software/hardware, mainframe/micro);
Demonstration for practical classes; Teaching, supervision and help of project
students and technicians.
