Selection of channels.

I have an investigator who wants to set up a 3 color analysis system on
our Vantage. He wants to use only directly conjugated antibodies, in
particular CD4-CY5, CD8-PE, plus a number of test antibodies conjugated to
FITC. This is apparently because some of the atibodies are only available
direcly conjugated to FITC.

My question is.. is this a sensible strategy? or put another way, what
are the factors or limitations in deciding which antibodies should go into
which channel? If anyone could point me to some literature on this point,
I would be most appreciative.

Thanks
Graham
