Dear Flow-ers,

Here is a brief summary of the (regretfully few!
) responses which I
received to my recent enquiry concerning the relative merits of the major
commercially available software packages for analysis of DNA data from
clinical human tumour samples, on the Mac:-

>>>---> One lab. remarked that ModFit (Verity) allows gating of
raw (listmode) data (essential for us) which MacCycle (Phoenix) does not, but
commented that MacCycle has "better" fitting routines.

>>>---> Another lab. offers it's Mac. users both packages, but
observed that 80% choose to use ModFit, although both give similar results.

>>>---> A final correspondent (!) commented that in their case,
the two companies had provided differing levels of 'phone service (Verity
superior to Phoenix), but that the maths parts of MacCycle apparently were
being worked on in an effort to reach some agreeable consistency in the
reporting of S-phase numbers from human tumours. Final choice therefore, may
amount to the looks of one package over the other, finally.

Many thanks to all (?) of you who took the trouble to respond & any
further comments, opinions, bribes, etc. would be most welcome.

Regards to all,

"Zip" K.G.
