POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE
A POSTDOCTORAL POSITION is available to study mammalian sperm
nuclear chromatin structure as related to normal/abnormal
development, fertility potential and effects of toxicants. We seek
an enthusiastic person who would bring skills and ideas that will
best integrate with our expertise and interests in using computer
driven, automated instrumentation for assessment of testis
normal/abnormal germ cell proliferation and differentiation (Envir.
Mol. Mutagenesis 21:144, 1993 and 25:23, 1995; J. Andrology 16:80;
1995). Some studies are desired on a mouse transgenic for avian
sperm protamines (Biol. Reprod. 52:20; 1995). Experience in
molecular and cell biology, biochemistry of sperm chromatin,
animal/ human fertility, toxicology, flow cytometry and/or image
analysis desirable. We have three flow cytometers including a dual
laser Cytofluorograf, mercury arc epiillumination ICP22A and a
FACSort as well as a new ONCOR image analysis system interfaced to
a cooled Photometrics CCD camera (1K x 1K chip) and a Quadra 840AV
MAC computer. 1000 sq. ft laboratory in modern building is well
equipped with tissue culture facilities, centrifuges, microscopes
and biochemical apparatus. Adjacent rooms with other biochemical
equipment. Salary range of $25-27.5K plus benefits. Brookings is
a city of 16,000 plus an SDSU student population of about 10,000.
The city is known for its friendliness, very low crime rate,
excellent schools, strong city supported recreational program in an
area rich with fish and wildlife. Sioux Falls is the closest major
city of 110,000 accessible by a 50 min Interstate drive. Sioux
Falls was the number one choice of Money magazine in 1992 as the
