I used EndNote for both Mac and DOS to keep track of over 5,000 references
during the compilation of the 3rd edition of Practical Flow Cytometry;
EndLink served to get references from the Knowledge Finder CD-ROM Medline
data base into the EndNote libraries. The only complaint I had was that the
DOS version of EndNote would occasionally run out of memory. EndNote 2 for
Windows, which just came out, doesn't have that problem, seems to be very
fast, and integrates well with Windows word processors. Since EndNote
started out as a Mac product, the newest Mac version should be at least as
good. I had no problems transferring libraries between Mac and PC versions.
EndNote 2 for Windows, incidentally, is a 32-bit application which runs
optimally under Win95 and NT.
