RE: Old paraformaldehyde

We use a 20% Ultrapure formaldehyde stock solution purchased from Tousimis
Research Corp. (301)-881-2450 (Catalog # 1008B $25.95). This is supplied in a
100 ml bottle, that we dilute with PBS to a 2% working solution. The stock
solution is stable at 4 C for many months, and the working solutions are stable
for at least a month. We have found that it is well worth the cost to purchase
the ultrapure solution and make dilutions instead of making up fresh
paraformaldehyde from the powder every month.

Good luck,
