Hi Visia,
Are there any signs of arcing (an ozone smell and pale blue light around
the plate/plate holder)? I occasionally had a similar problem when the
nozzle had become blocked and buffer had sprayed onto the plates. The
best fix for this is to switch off the stream AND THE PLATES, remove the
plate holder, dry off the plates and the pins that protrude at the back,
and dry the sockets and surrounding area in the machine. I found that
drying was made easier by spraying some propanol onto the plates to
displace water, be sure to allow all of the propanol to dry off before
you re-insert them.
By the way if this is the cause of your problem you'll find the O-rings
around the plate pins have perished in the ozone and will need to be
replaced.
