deflection plate malfunction

We are experiencing power failure in our left deflection plate on our BD
FACStar+.
It generally occurs after approximately 6 hrs of sorting. It takes between
10 minutes and 1 hour before the plates are functionning properly again,
after we lose power. Replacing the deflection plate does not fix the
problem, however, it has been difficult to pinpoint the source of the
problem, since the plate always regains power on its own eventually. It
also seems as though the left plate has a lower voltage, since the stream
center control will not pull the stream as far left as it will to the right.
The side streams do not seem to be affected.
Has anyone any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
