We have been using the FluoReporter LACZ kit from molecular probes part
number F1930 (50 test kit). It works well, the positive cells are a good
log up from untransfected cells. You need to keep the sample cool while
sorting otherwise the untransfected cells increase their fluorescence
over time. We just follow the intructions. The cells we have been using
are human fibroblasts and endothelial cells though.
