Calibration/ quality control

I am interested in canvasing opinions on the requirements for "adequate" quality control of flow cytometry in a research laboratory. For example, if the instrument is calibrated
daily with beads (for FS/SS and the PMT tubes) is this sufficient, or should beads be used with every sample if mean linear fluorescence is to be measured. Basically, I suppose I want
to know both the minimum requirement, and the best case scenario so that we can discuss these issues at our local flow cytometry users group meeting.
Thanks
