FITC labelling of human IgE

Does anyone have any information or protocols regarding the FITC labelling of human IgE?
We have labelled a batch of human IgE antibody with FITC, but it lost its ability to cause
degranulation. We suspect that the Fc portion has been blocked by the labelling. Is it possible
to protect the Fc portion from FITC labelling?

Many thanks
