PMT for FALS detector

There have been several messages concerning replacement of the photodiode
with a PMT to increase FALS sensitivity. Has anyone done this on a FACS
440? If so, how expensive was it? Can you use one of the
fluorescence PMTs on the 440 or does this require a different type of
PMT? We can't resolve particles below about 1.5 u and this sounds as if
it might be helpful if it's mechanically (and fiscally) possible on our
instrument.

Thanks for any help.

Ray
