Red Sensitive PMT's, FCS PMT

Does anyone out in the Flow community use special red sensitive
PMT's for looking at fluorochromes such as Texas Red, APC, or Cy 5? If
so, do you have any data to show how your signal to noise ratio
increased compared to the standard PMT's that Coulter or BD supplied
with your cytometer. We have a FACStar Plus and a Vantage with a dye
laser.

Also, has anyone ever substituted a PMT for the FCS photodiode in BD
flow cytometers. We are trying to resolve and sort bacteria that are
less than .2 microns. We can do it now but if a PMT will resolve these
populations better then I would be interested in putting some extra time
into making this work.

Lastly, a quick Hi to the people that attended the Los Alamos flow
course. You know who you are.
