Position Title: Post Doctoral Fellow
Position Location: Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los
Alamos, NM
Position Description: A postdoctoral position will be
available 01 Oct 95 to study the microbial community of
subsurface samples using flow cytrometry to 1) identify,
and 2) separate cells for microbial analysis. The salary
will be commensurate with experience, and the appointment
will be for one year, renewable for a second year.
Duties: This study is a multidisciplinary effort funded by
DOE to investigate Yucca Mountain, Nevada, as a potential
site for a high-level nuclear repository. This study is
part of a microbial site-characterization of indigenous
subsurface microorganisms, interacts with investigators
using classical microbial ecology techniques, and is tied
closely to investigations using molecular techniques.
Requirements: A Ph.D. in microbiology, or related field, is
required, and experience in flow cytrometry is essential.
Experience with flow cytrometry should include cell
labeling, fluorescent staining, and molecular biology.
Additionally, familiarity with classical microbial ecology
techniques is desirable.
