We actually do PNH screening as a routinely offered test at Yale-New Haven
Hospital in New Haven, CT. We measure LFA-3 (CD58), DAF (CD55), and MIRL
(CD59) on both the red cells and on the leukocytes, the latter subdivided
into lymphs, monos, and polies. It is especially useful for patients who
have been transfused since in those cases the sugar-water and/or Ham tests
can be normal. It seems to work quite well. LFA-3 antibody is available
from AMAC; DAF and MIRL can be ordered from Research Diagnostics in New
Jersey - all have been of good quality in our hands. If you want to send
the sample to us we would be happy to run it - just drop me a separate note
directly for shipping info, etc.
