I missed the original mailing but the hash or american pound sign can be=20
accessed from a uk keyboard by pressing option-3 on a mac, the english poun=
d
sign is accessed by pressing shift-3. If you use an ASCII protocol for=20
transfer, you'll probably find that your communications protocol will=20
map the shift-3 code as the american pound sign anyway here's a test from=
=20
my UK mapped keyboard:

Option-3 - # this is a hash on my screen

Shift-3 -=A3 this is a pound sterling sign on my screen
