Okay, you lot, here's my twopence worth:-

I) The comments from Tom Frey below (repeated at the end of this message)
were found to be absolutely correct on our four FACSnet-linked HP.340s
when I was in Cambridge. Unless the procedure described is followed, the
systems will hang totally if the link fails to establish & you attempt to
login (we never managed to find out why!) & have then to be re-booted: a
real pain!

II) Another interesting querk we encountered: if you have the appropriate
number of files to transfer which fills exactly an entire screen, or
multiples thereof, the final screenful of files fails to be displayed when
you attempt to show all the files, in order to select those for transfer.
At this point, the only way to have all of them displayed on the screen,
is to add or delete one file, so as to bring the total number of files
above or below a precise screenful.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Regarding the FACSnet thread, I would like to throw in another set of
observations.

When FACSnet launches it goes through some steps that result in messages about
device addresses and INET. Specifically:

-a -v -heha
Device heha address ####### now up
Route [INET] xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx now up
nfg complete

Sometimes the middle two messages are skipped and the nfg complete message
appears by itself. IF THE MIDDLE TWO MESSAGES DON'T APPEAR, MY SYSTEM WILL
HANG WHEN I HIT LOGIN. Therefore, I don't hit LOGIN but instead hit F8, F1 to
quit back to Master Page. I then launch FACSnet again. It's faster than a
reboot!
