Hi Lucy,

Your question concerns a very interesting subject. We have measured Annexin V binding to a large
number of cell types under a variety of apoptosis inducing conditions. We found that PS exposure occurs
soon after the activation of the apoptotic program in the absence of visible morphological changes at the
EM level. As yet we did not find conditions that reversed the process. So, until someone proves
otherwise, surface exposure of PS indicates COMMITMENT to execute the whole apoptotic program.
