Service contracts

I am currently operating a FACScan at UC Davis, which was purchased
in 1990 and has been covered under a BD service contract since it was
purchased. We have recently been offered a contract by a company called
CIC which will replace our agreement with BD on a parts and labor basis,
all for a considerable savings. I have been very satisfied with our
current arrangement. BD's response time has been very fast, and our
machine is never down for long. Since money is tight, our administrative
people are leaning toward CIC. CIC has assured us that the service we have
had will remain the same. I know many of the machines have no contract at
all, but please don't e-mail about that option- it's not an option for us.
Have any of you switched to a third party service provider? Has the level
of service changed? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Carol
