CD8 clinical question

I have been asked what is the significance of a decreased CD8 count.
The patient in question is a 35 year old woman with a mildly
increased CD4/CD8 ratio with a CD4 count of 460 and a CD8 count of
58. She is HIV negative and has a poorly characterized autoimmune
disease which is reportedly not SLE.
What is the significance of this decrease in CD8?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
