We have used flow cytometry in our lab for nearly 8 years. We started out
quantifying bovine lymphocyte cell surface antigens and have concentrated on
rat in recent years. We have looked at changes after rats have been flown in
space and also after nutritional deprivation. One area of interest is
Prolactin Receptors on the cell surface.
We have begun looking at apoptosis and have also used the Apoptag kit from
Oncor with success.
There are several other researchers here at Penn State that use flow
cytometry regularly and the person in charge of the cell sorter is Elaine
