bernoullis yet again

We have recently been told that IoMega is thinking of discontinuing the
manufacture of 20Mb bernoulli cartridges. In the mean time, they have raised
the prices (our quote is up from $170 to $205 for three). This option is now
outrageously expensive -- on our imaging instrument we use 230Mb bernoullis
that *each* cost less than the 20Mb cartridges. BD still says they do not
support any of the larger bernoulli drives on their HP Lysys systems. However,
we have just spoken with Bering (who manufacture the drives used in the BD
system) and Bering says that their 150 Mb drives are compatible with Consort 32
systems (although these drives won't read the 20 Mb cartridges). I realize
I've brought up this topic before -- but I'm madder now so will bring it up
again.

1. Has anyone out there got a 150 Mb Bernoulli drive to work with the
BD/Lysys/HP system?
2. Has anyone else been told that 20Mb cartridges may be discontinued?
3. Can we get cartridges cheaper somewhere?
4. Are people using optical disks relatively happy with this as a BD data
storage option?

Thanks for your help!
