I ran a (sort-of) similar system a few years ago, using WinQVT software
on a 386 with a Western Digital ethernet card.
We transferred all flow data direct from FACSnet to a Magneto-Optical drive
on the PC, so both storage and archiving were done in a single step.
Assuming Chameleon can communicate with the Compaq hardware, and you have
enough information to configure both hardware & software, it *should* be
easy!
This worked for me:
a) I ran an ftp SERVER in WinQVT on the Windows PC, and did all logins
and file transfers from BD FACSnet.
b) BD FACSnet talking to a PC can only log in as user "ftp" with password
"ftp", so the ftp server must be configured to accept logins from that user.
c) Both ends must be configured with a valid IP address. If there is no
connection outside the room then the actual address is not important, BUT
if there is (or will be in future) a link to the greater IP world, then
you must get an appropriate set of addresses from your friendly network
administrator...
These were the critical things I can remember, there might have been others.
When you get it working, I strongly recommend that FACSnet be set to BINARY
file type! Much Faster transfers!
Hope this is useful! Cheers, Joseph.
