Hi:

FACSOVL 1.0 is freeware and available by anonymous FTP from
integrin.wustl.edu. Drop me a line if you find it useful or
have any other comments.

Using the Coulter Epics XL was a major break-through in our
lab after messing around with a FacsScan. The Epics
virtually never has any problems, despite users from 5 labs
using it without anyone "in charge" of the instrument. Tech
support is very fast and knowledgable. The shortcomings of
the instrument are lack of some features to make publication
quality figures from the data.

FACSOVL takes LOG-flourescence vs count histogram files as
output by the XL 1.5 software and overlays up to eight of
them after optional scaling, smoothing, and changes of
resolution. It then outputs the data in popular spreadsheet
formats for graphing. The program displays the histograms as
they are worked with, and optionally prints out the overlay
as a crude plot for lab-books etc.

If you are using the XL 1.5 software and would like to make
overlays and run windows 3.1, this program may be useful to
you. I don't know how it does with files from other
software.

This program was developped for internal use, and is made
available without waranties of any kind. Verification of
data-integrity etc is the responsibility of the user.

To use FACSOVL, download fxolv10.zip, expand it onto a
floppy, and run INSTALL.EXE from the floppy through the
win3.1 file- or program manager.

Good luck!

Sincerely, Fred
