A much-enhanced version of MFI, my free PC program for listmode cytometry
data analysis, is now available for retrieval by anonymous ftp. Get MFI
version 3.4H from flowcyt.bio.umass.edu in directory /pub/flowcyt/mfi, file
mfi-zip.exe. When run, this file self-extracts into the program and
accompanying documents.

Be sure to GET ALSO mfitutor.exe which contains the heavily revised tutorial,
including new time kinetics sample data files kindly provided by Keith
Kelley. Users of previous versions of MFI are advised to go through the
new tutorial since some design features have changed significantly.

FACStation 1.0 is now supported.

The most important enhancements provide kinetic dotplots and line graphs.
These can be produced vs. event number -- even when time is not a listmode
event parameter.

Up to 3 screens of dot plots (up to 9 dot plots per screen) can now be
displayed. Gated and ungated dot plots can be shown side by side. Although
gated 2-color dot plots can now be displayed, quadrant analysis is not
implemented (use WinMDI for that!).

Gate parameters are now more easily set, and 3-parameter gates can
be set graphically. Time or event number can be used as a gate parameter.

This version needs only 480K of free DOS memory.

3.4H is identical with 3.4h-beta-1. No serious bugs were reported since the
latter has been available for beta testing.

BTW, version 3.4I is now well along. When released, it will support files
with parameters of mixed ranges (e.g. 256 and 1024 in the same file), as
well as WINLIST 2.0 and Pro2FCS files from Verity Software, and CyCLOPS
files from Cytomation, Inc.
