Upgrading ELITE Workstation

Hi to all. Has anyone out there ever attempted (successfully) to upgrade
their old 286/386 ELITE workstation to a 486? Which 486 machines work?
What cards do you have to move from the old machine to the new machine.
What are the interupt pitfalls (if any) and pitfalls in general of "doing
it yourself?"

Thanks!
