Re: powermac and CELLQUEST

We've run CellQuest ( for analysis) on a 6100 and a 7100 PowerMac. It runs
fine on both -- however, I have been told that it runs slower on either of
these two than it would on a Quadra 650. I gather that BD is writing a
native version of CellQuest for the PowerMacs. My ASSUMPTION (unconfirmed)
is that CellQuest will run faster on the PowerMacs than on the old Macs,
once the software has been re-written for the new platform. Right now, I am
waiting until the new PowerMac version of CellQuest appears before I
recommend that our users purchase the software from BD -- because BD has
indicated that they will charge to upgrade the software to native PowerMac
code if we purchase the older version.
While I sympathize with BD having been caught in the middle of Apple's new
chip development, I hope they will join in this discussion with some hard
facts.
