The chicken that laid the golden egg?

A colleague of mine recently requested to buy a chicken from a large
manufacturer of flow cytometers; wanted to use the rbcs as a standard for
plant DNA measurements.

Asking price for chicken: $10,000

They claim, apparently, this is a price based on what the biomedical
community can stand! Wow. Guess I'd better get into chicken farming.
