Nonsensical $BTIM and $ETIM

On occasion, I get nonsensical values for the keywords $BTIM and $ETIM (begin
and end times for acquisition). My listmode files are created by the Becton
Dickinson LYSYS-II version 1.1 software under HP Pascal 3.22. The format for
these keywords should be hh:mm:ss. In some of my files, I note that the
value for "ss" (seconds) exceeds 60.
Can anyone offer advice on how to prevent such occurences?
