Trypan Blue

Ivan Shaw asks (?) Longley [signatures would be appreciated!] what
concentration of trypan blue s/he uses. I have no experience using trypan
for flow work, but based on ordinary microscopy, the following cautions
are likely relevant:

1. Different lots of trypan blue have different staining abilities.
The concentration may need to be adjusted for each new lot.

2. Serum or other proteins in suspension media bind trypan blue, hence
reduce the stain available to the cells. You'll need a higher concentration
of trypan if you use more protein.
