FLOW USER GROUP EDITORIAL

Dear Cytometry Colleagues:
As one of the people responsible for operating this user interface I would
like to make a couple of SHORT comments regarding 2 issues of recent interest.

1. The CURLY, MOE and LARRY saga: The interesting and important questions
raised in this discussion eventually lost me somewhere. Most importantly, I
still don't appreciate what the solution was. While it is fun (and I don't
in any way want to stop fun!) the key thing is a clearly defined solution
to the problem. If Marc could very simply state the original problem and
solution I would appreciate it.

2. The UV laser questions: Howard Shapiro makes some very good points and I
hope everyone re-reads his message. When we post information on a public
(or nearly public) information network, please consider carefully the basis
for your answers and the information you post. Again, we are not asking that
only absolutely and positively verified information be posted, but that you
state clearly what the basis for your info is. It should be obvious that UV
or any lasers can be dangerous and care should be taken when "playing" with
them.

We don't edit any material that is put into CYTOMETRY user group with the
exception of management requests ("add me or delete me form the network" type).

This short message became long! Sorry.
