Lori Krueger - Candidate for Clinical
Councilor
Statement of Goals and Objectives
Throughout my career I have been heavily involved with education
and training of students, technologists, and research fellows in
North America and Europe. I have been responsible for administering
Quality Assurance and Proficiency Testing programs for Clinical
Flow Cytometry. I have co-authored numerous peer-reviewed journal
articles, book chapters and abstracts and have presented posters
and oral presentations at numerous international symposia.
I believe that my strength lies in my abilities as a coordinator
and an educator. My experience working in the clinical laboratory,
clinical research, basic science laboratory and industry provides
a diverse perspective to understanding the needs of each of these
groups.
As a candidate for ISAC Clinical Councilor, I wish represent the
needs of Flow Cytometry Laboratories to the ISAC council so that
the society can best serve it's membership. I believe that education
should be accessible to all cytometrists regardless of where they
live and will work to create alternative methods (i.e. web based
learning) to achieve that end.
I support the goals and objectives
of this coalition.
If you vote for me for Clinical Cytometry Councilor, please
also vote for J. Paul Robinson for President-elect and
for Bob Zucker for Secretary. Together
we have carefully considered how we can serve ISAC as an executive
team. We have thought
through the issues and we think we have good ideas.

I have been working in the field of Medical Laboratory Technology
since 1981 and Flow Cytometry since 1991. I received an advanced
certification (ART) in Immunohematology from the Canadian Society
of Medical Laboratory Science in 1990 and a BA in Administrative
and Commercial Studies from the University of Western Ontario in
1994. From 1991 through 1997 I worked as a Senior Laboratory Technologist
and Technical Specialist in the Special Hematology (Flow Cytometry)
Laboratory at the London Health Sciences Centre, London, Ontario,
Canada.
During that time I was actively involved in developing and improving
clinical research and routine clinical applications of Flow Cytometry
including the ISHAGE protocol for CD34 positive Stem Cell enumeration.
I joined Beckman Coulter (Miami, FL) as a Product Specialist performing
external product evaluations in 1997. After relocating to New England
in 1998, I joined the Center for Platelet Function Studies (CPFS)
at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, MA,
USA. During my 5 years at the CPFS I continued to develop and enhance
flow cytometric assays for studying platelet function including
the design and implementation of the laboratory component of several
clinical trials. I have recently relocated to San Diego and have
rejoined Beckman Coulter as a Senior Applications Scientist for
Translational Business Solutions. I continue to develop new assays
for immune monitoring using MHC tetramer technology.
