Yes Beverley, there are a few of us who know in our heart of hearts that
we've spent too much time on the flow.	And isn't there an interesting
musical theme among the responses from those for whom your message struck
a chord (as it were).

Some time ago I thought it would be good to have FCS data files played as
music. This was to be an audible adjunct to the standard visual output to
better convey the intricacies of multi-parameter data.	On presenting this
to an AFCG meeting with the question "Is this a great idea or am I nuts?",
guess what the consensus was??

Anyway, I wrote "Cellular Symphony" to play the data and those who have
spent too much time on the flow can download it from
http://www.wehi.edu.au/cytometry/freesoftware/ . Even if it won't work as
an analytical tool the music is really intriguing. You can even record
the day's acquisitions for the long commute home. And Suzanne Mertens'
equaliser may indeed come into play.

Tips:
1. Macintosh users will need StuffitExpander to unpack it.
2. Something like 3-colour Calibrites with FITC on piano, PE on Hammond
organ and PerCP on tubular bells at 200ms (or 500ms if you feel more
mellow) have a progressive jazz feel to them.
3. See the "Help" menu.

Frank Battye.
