RE: HP XW 4600 specs for LSR II/Aria running Diva 6.1.1

Which computers are you using currently with your instruments?
 
I installed DIVA Software v6.0 on a xw4100 (LSRII -  4 lasers) and the setup didn't seem to run any slower than a xw4400 (CANTO II - 2 lasers) with v6.1. I believe the speed limitation lies with JAVA and not with the CPU or video card, but please correct me if I'm wrong. I also like to mention that v6.0/v6.1 ran slower compared to v5.0 on both setups.
 
Also, BD sent out a memo regarding the installation of v6.0 and v6.1 on Core 2 Duo systems back in January. Apparently, there are some conflicts between Duo processors and DIVA Software 6.0/6.1 with regards to updating statistics. Therefore, BD does not recommend using a Duo core CPU with their software and I'm not aware of a fix from BD. To use v6.1 on my CANTO II, I set CPU affinity to a single core with a free program call Get and Set CPU Affinity by Edgemeal Software.
 
In the end, if you do decide to get a new computer, I suggest the E8400 for better price to value ratio. Pick a video card that will support the screen resolution you want to run at and with enough video jacks for the number of monitors you have.

Dear Flowers,
 
I am upgrading the software on my LSR II and my FACSAria.  Due to budget limitations I am supplying my own PCs (funding for new equipment is OK, but finding funds to keep what you have running or to upgrade are impossible to come by!!).
 
It looks like I will be the first site in Australia to run the HP XW 4600 on my instruments (& one of the first with 6.1.whatever is just now being released).  I can get basic specs of BD's USA website, and my local BD service engineer has been very helpful, but can anybody give me the full computer specs?
 
Any clues on what I can do to build in some redundancy? ie is Intel® Core(tm)2 Duo E8500 processor (3.16 GHz, 6 MB L2 cache, 1333 MHz FSB) the best processor, and which of these is best for graphics; 
ATI FireGL V5600 (512 MB)
NVIDIA Quadro FX1700 (512 MB)
NVIDIA Quadro FX4600 (512 MB)
