I agree with Sue and Roland. I would hate to see the list swamped by marketing material but the occasional announcement like the one below is definitely of interest to me. Another example of a mailing list that works with some vendor input from time to time is the confocal mailing list - often there the subject line will be prefixed with "Commercial". Some people on that list on that list are also careful to declare commercial interest - which I always appreciate.
