Re: Post Sort Bacterial Contamination

I just noticed yesterday that the plastic adaptor we use for plate sorting
(the onne with a hole on the left side) can collect a big puddle when the
stream hits it before you do the homing/alignment. It is only obvious when
you pull it out. This can be a source of contamination.

Re: Post Sort Bacterial Contamination

Before sorting, retract the waste aspirator that uncovers
the sort collection tube holder and disinfect the exposed
surfaces with 70% EtOH. Sometimes fluid wets the edges where
the aspirator slides across and this may be a potential
source of contamination falling into the outermost
collection tubes.

Accumulation of dried saline in this area can also impede
the sliding of the aspirator so it is a good idea to clean
this area regularly.
