Hi, we also have a FACSCalibur with an old G3 Mac and have had a lot of problems with monitors. Ususally a new monitor would go dead after a year or so, and the only explanation that I could think of was that power supply from the G3 was fluctuating and killing our monitors. Recentely we purchased a SAMSUNG flat screen, and not an Apple one. The difference is that this one connects directly to the wall for electricity and should be free of the above mentioned problem. So, it is possible to connect any monitor you think of, you just might need a small interconnector that you can aquire at electronic or an Apple inc store. good luck, Marko.
