Laser upgrades on LSR-II (and Canto)

Dear all,

We have been considering laser changes on our LSR-II. Currently it  
has a UV, Violet, Blue and Red laser (all at "standard" powers	
(<20mW) - is there any advantage in higher power options?).

Unfortunately BD has told us they will not do a field upgrade on this  
machine (in Australia).

I'm wondering whether people have been doing their own upgrades and  
what is involved?  I'm particularly interested in yellow/orange laser  
options (ideally without loosing any abilities we currently have).


Finally, we also have a FACSCanto - this machine is absolutely crying  
out for a violet laser (and an extra PMT on the red trigon). Again,  
BD says they will not do upgrades. Has anyone looked at doing their  
own laser upgrades on a Canto? ("upgrading" to Canto II is not an  
option for us and that is still limited in terms of total PMTs).
