We've traditionally made up 7-AAD in 95% ethanol and stored it at -20C -
ethanol is still liquid at this temperature, so you do not need to thaw
it to use it (like you would for DMSO). I expect methanol would behave
the same.

In our hands, 7-AAD seems to work for quite a while as a viability stain
when stored this way, but its ability to stoichiometrically bind DNA
seems to decline after extended storage (1 year).

Enjoy,

Subject: 7-AAd storage

Dear Friends,

Solutions of 7-AAD is said to be made in DMSO and/or absolute Methanol.
Basically why this DNA prob (I prepared in Methanol) shouldn't be
fluorescent after a year? and is there any other solvent for longer
storage?
