Dear Colleagues, coming up for the third time in beautiful Vienna in Austria on September 11.-15. 2006: our Annual Course on Flow Cytometry and Cell Sorting for Biotechnology, specifically designed for people interested in biotechnological applications including establishment and sorting of cell lines for biotechnology. We wont even mention lymphocyte phenotyping, but will explain how flow cytometry and cell sorting works and quickly move on to commonly used methods including * analysis of cellular growth rates and cell cycle * immunofluorescent staining of surface and intracellular proteins * membrane integrity and potential * enzyme activities and organelle specific probes * apoptosis * secretion assay * Flow FISH * quantitative methods and bead arrays with an emphasis on how these can be used in biotechnological applications including # cell line characterisation and analysis of cellular metabolism # cell line optimisation of recombinant bacteria, yeast and mammalian cells # development of sorting strategies and sorting for high production rates # sorting of surface expressed peptide libraries including baculoviruses For additional information please contact me at nicole.borth@boku.ac.at or visit our homepage at http://www.boku.ac.at/iam/AdvTraining.htm Looking forward to see you in Vienna Nicole Borth a.o.
