Katherina, The software will analyse the data OK. There is a relatively easy way to deal with the filename problem. Assuming you are using Windows 2000 or XP, 1. Start a DOS shell, ie a command prompt. To do this go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt 2. In the Command prompt window navigate to where your data is. In the command prompt window you will have something like the line below. C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR LOGIN NAME> or C:\windows\system32> if not, it does not actually matter. 3. If your data is not on the C drive type in the drive letter and a colon and enter. e.g. D: This will return a different prompt D:\> 4. Now type in CD <space> followed by the full path to your data, whether you changed drives or not, [it is possible to copy and paste the path from explorer, but I won't describe that here] for example D:\>CD \FlowData\FACSAria\IMVS\CRC - Cytokine Receptor Laboratory which should return the following prompt D:\FlowData\FACSAria\IMVS\CRC - Cytokine Receptor Laboratory> 5. Now type in dir /x and you will get a listing with both short and long filenames. e.g. D:\FlowData\FACSAria\IMVS\CRC - Cytokine Receptor Laboratory>dir /x 01/03/2005 02:46 4,492 LRL200~1.001 LRL200503_001.001 01/03/2005 02:53 4,298 LRL200~1.002 LRL200503_001.002 01/03/2005 05:33 63,548 LRL200~1.003 LRL200503_001.003 03/03/2005 02:41 321,904 LRL200~2.001 LRL200503_002.001 03/03/2005 02:54 333,000 LRL200~2.002 LRL200503_002.002 04/03/2005 09:24 8,512 LRL200~3.001 LRL200503_003.001 04/03/2005 09:32 192,992 LRL200~3.002 LRL200503_003.002 08/03/2005 14:58 59,542 LRL200~4.001 LRL200503_004.001 08/03/2005 15:07 10,448 LRL200~4.002 LRL200503_004.002 08/03/2005 15:12 29,348 LRL200~2.003 LRL200503_004.003 08/03/2005 15:49 211,898 LRL200~1.004 LRL200503_004.004 08/03/2005 16:51 122,198 LRL200~1.005 LRL200503_004.005 6. If you want you can redirect this output to a file and print it. [It is possible to send it straight to a printer, but this gets around all the differing PC/network configurations] Instead of dir /x type dir /x > C:\flowfiles.txt 7. This will create a file - flowfiles.txt in c:\ containing the filename information. Now you can print this from notepad. Hope this helps.
