Janet, Frank, James, In my opinion this issue relates to any sorter. As far as my experience goes (from MoFlo, predominantly) counters are always right, and higher sort rates do not affect their indications. We routinely sort between 25,000 and 45,000 per second, and verify our sorts by the following approach, that you can easily also try : From the submitted sample, at the same speed, you sort a known number of cells, and re-analyze the collection tube after addition of a known quantity of counting beads. This will show you that your sorts produced the expected number of events (within let's say 5%). At the same time, it will allow you to quickly verify sort purity. I now always "claim" a certain proportion of all samples for this simple test. It avoids unjustified "warranty claims" ...
