If you drag and drop the files into the software you do not need to
worry about that anyhow. If you have a number of displays that you want
to update altogether you drag and drop the file in the file list window
( ctrl-L) and then update all plots (alt page-down) but try to have only
one file name in the file list.

The software just can't handle the long file names.

	Hey somebody out there,

For some years I use the WinMDI software. Mostly nothing but
nice.

I still have a question about an esthetical annoyance. I save my
data (FCS-files) to a memory stick, copy it to my hard disk from which I
open the files with WinMDI.

But in the WinMDI-menu 'Open Dotplot' I see the strangest
characters in the names of folders or even names of files.

For instance : a file which was recorded on the FACS Canto was
named 'trial1 + CD49f-PE' (as well as on memory stick and hard disk)
appeared as 'TRIAL~62.FCS' in that 'Open dotplot' menu. Another example
: 'Trial 1 eluate' was changed into 'TRIAL~YH.FCS'
I sometimes even see dollarsymbols in the filenames.

In fact it is not that big problem since sequence of read
samples keeps remained but it would be nicer if the original given names
could be maintained.

	Any suggestions or help?

Thank you veruy much of course,
	gert
