One way to induce apoptosis of lymphocytes (from peripheral blood) is to
mitogenically stimulate them e.g. with polyvalent mitogen
phytohemagglutinin (PHA). While large fraction of lymphocytes undergoes
mitogenic stimulatiom, about 10-15% of lymphocytes undergoes so called
"activation induced apoptosis". In fact, 48 h after addition of PHA
variety of cells at different stages of mitogenic stimulation (G1, S,
G2/M, also nonstimulated G0 cells) as well as apoptotic cells are
present in cultures. 24 h after addition of PHA there are predominantly
G1, G0 and apoptotic cells. The link below is to our recent paper on
this topic

Subject: Lymphocyte Apoptosis Induction

Does anyone have experience working with peripheral lymphocytes and
trying to induce apoptosis? Your experience would be quite helpful.
Thanks
