RE: Do your have any DIVA problems?

We have a LSR DIVA 4.0 inst. We currently have no problems with our unit. However we
did have some.
I make sure that the Database is not larger than 3 GB.	And preferably less than 2 GB.	I
rarely defrag the drive. I do not install any other software that may use Java except
for IE. If you ask the software to remember keystrokes by hitting aquire or record to
fast then you will have problems. Just slow down a bit. It is not a MAC so be gentle
with it.

Our PC is running NT Professional. I wonder if those with recurrent problems are running
XP Prof?

acquisition software, most of you are satisfied with Diva. As I mentioned earlier, we are
enthusiastic about Diva's features. Only the Java-originated problems are overwhelming at
this time. Unfortunately BD's customer service and field service does not seem to be
skilled enough on this application to give us any advice beyond reinstalling the software
(which now I can do in my dreams) and defragmenting the HD (which gets 80% fragmented
after one hour of operation).

experiments after 30-40 samples the saving process slows down to 35-45 seconds/sample and
eventually different Java error messages pop up. Something like "Java generated too many
errors". Then we have to reboot the hardware. Often multiple times in order to re-load
the Java machine. This way a 150 sample run takes a full day and a half. The computer has
nothing on it except for some flow data (not a lot) and the database is being kept lean.
Java is the one that came with the Diva 4 disk. We are not upgrading Java.

We are on the market for several new BD cytometers and want to get an idea of what we are
up to. I only wish BD would consider eliminating the Java from underneath Diva.
