Since we are using our semen for IVF, it is imperative that our systems be sterile. We clean our sheath tanks every day with Lophene and Cidecon. Then with nanopure water rinse and then alcohol. We use Exspor in our sorters which works very good but is expensive. It can be acquired from Alcide Corporation in Oregon. We test our sorters every friday night at 12 midnight and plate them out from the sample line and from the sheath stream. We use 5% aroebic sheeps blood agar plates for the media and we have NO CFU's growing when we check them on monday morning around 11am. It works for us but I know there are many other areas that can conatimate the sorted product. Although we are very aggressive to clean out the sorter internally, we do not clean all that much around the chamber. May be because we sort sperm versus other cells. We also have antibiotics in our sheath fluid, catch fluid and sample so that helps quite alot! regards, MikeReceived on Wed Oct 13 14:58:00 2004
