Bessie,

CD4CD8 double positives can be a FACS artifact, but they can also represent
"real" lymphocytes, namely antigen-specific memory cells, and can be cloned
at 1 cell per well in vitro (proving that they are not aggregates of single
cells).  The percentage and activation status of these cells increases in
response to infections as we have recently described in humans and in an
animal model of hepatitis C virus infection.
