Magnolia Ploidy and chromosomes

I have a client who has been contacted by a botanical garden
involved in a Magnolia breeding program. The botanical garden is
interested in doing "chromosome counting" and or ploidy levels on their
Magnolia's. I have clients who use PI to investigate the ploidy level of
many types of plant tissue and have provided them with the protocol with
the suggestion that they just try it in the Magnolia. They have asked that
I find out if there are others using Flow Cytometry specifically on
Magnolia's
Anyone out there doing this? If so, do you have any suggestions
or comments for them?
Thanks in advance for this consideration.
	 Joan K.
