A note of caution, if you plan to publish data selectively cleaned by this type of approaches, you should better state in the figure legend and in your material and methods that the data shown only represent the gated events but in not way represent the bulk of the whole population. Wisely, you should show the bulk data and the gated used. Otherwise, it could be interpreted by your reviewers and the readers as intentional hiding of undesirable information.
