Hello Fellow Flow-ers FloCyte Regional Training program is happy to announce a Basic Flow Cytometry Training to be held at the Cook Children's Medical Center in Ft. Worth, TX, June 22-24 2004, and an Advanced Multiparameter and Compensation Course, June 25, 2004. I know many of you are well versed in flow but all of you have users or know colleagues who are struggling or just contemplating or beginning using flow - this basic course is designed for them. It teaches the basic foundations of flow cytometry, what is happening inside the instrument, how to prepare a good experiment, what fluorophores you choose and why, how the instrument layout affects experimental design, compensation issues - how to do it right!!, how to recognize and produce good data, etc. It is an excellent program, brought directly to you, at a fraction of the cost of sending just ONE person to a program away from the lab. Check out the curriculum at www.flocyte.com - click on Training and then on Basic Curriculum. The registration application form is also available from a link on that page. Registration is limited. For those with some experience in flow, we are also offering a course in Multiparameter flow and compensation. This course is a logical progression from use of 2-3 colors to the multi-color world of flow we can now take advantage of with the new instrumentation available. This course addresses strategies for multiparameter flow and the issues involved in compensating these more complex assays. It will give you a deeper understanding of the complexities of compensation and help you design experiments to your greater advantage. Application for this course is available also from the website as well - click on training and then application and is suggested for those with at least a strong foundational understanding and some hands on use of flow. The date is June 25th, 2004. For more info, at the website click on Training and then on Advanced Curriculum. I know you would find these both an excellent value and an asset to your users. I am happy to talk to you about these curricula if you like or you can check them out at www.flocyte.com. Please pass the word to anyone you know in the flow community in your area, particularly to those in your institution who would benefit from this type of training, but do not have access to the Cytometry list or ISAC, with my thanks!! For those of you who perhaps feel this distance is too far to travel, but who'd like to attend a course like one of these, please contact me about hosting a course in your area! I will be at ISAC in Montpellier in a few weeks so, if you are there, please introduce yourself. Be back in the office June 1 to take your registrations!
